Our Comprehensive Approach
Alcohol addiction — also called alcohol use disorder — is a pattern of drinking that becomes hard to control even as it causes harm across a person’s life: health, relationships, judgment, work, finances, sleep, and daily responsibilities. Alcohol addiction doesn’t always look extreme from the outside. Some people drink heavily every day; others binge, stop for a while, and return to drinking when stress or anxiety builds. Because alcohol is legal and socially normalized, people often minimize the problem until consequences become harder to ignore. Dependence can also develop gradually, so a person may need more alcohol to feel the same effect, or feel shaky, anxious, or unable to sleep when they stop.
Care for Loved Ones
Alcohol withdrawal can be medically serious, especially for those who drink heavily or daily, or who have a history of severe withdrawal. Stopping suddenly without medical guidance can be dangerous — symptoms can include tremors, sweating, nausea, anxiety, elevated heart rate, and in severe cases, confusion or seizures. At The Ranch, we provide medically supervised detox to help clients stabilize safely before continuing into the next phase of treatment, including monitoring, hydration, nutrition, rest, and emotional support.

Alcohol use is often tied to stress, conflict, loneliness, trauma, or untreated mental health symptoms. The Ranch uses evidence-based and supportive therapies including: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) — Helps clients recognize the thoughts and behaviors that lead to drinking. Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) — Supports emotional regulation and distress tolerance. Motivational Interviewing (MI) — Helps work through ambivalence about sobriety. Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) — Helps clients act on their values rather than cravings. Family Systems Therapy (FST) — Addresses communication, boundaries, and trust with loved ones. Holistic supports — Mindfulness, meditation, and art therapy help manage stress and rebuild healthier routines.

Treatment may still be appropriate if drinking becomes unsafe or hard to control during specific situations — weekends, events, or times of stress — even if it’s not a daily pattern.
Detox is more likely to be needed after heavy daily drinking, long-term use, or a history of severe withdrawal or seizures. The Ranch’s team can help assess withdrawal risk before treatment begins.
Yes. Therapies like Motivational Interviewing help clients look honestly at how drinking is affecting their life and build their own reasons for change.
